Removing Color Casts

By Dave Cross  ·  September 18th, 2011

Dave Cross shows you an easy method for removing an annoying color cast on a subject.

[Editors’ Note: Dave uses Elements 9′s Layer Mask option in his video; to add layer masks with earlier versions of Elements, check out this video for Elements 8, and this one for versions 7 and earlier.]

I have downloaded Quicktime over and over and your videos simply will not play. Could you use a windows program as an alternative? I have windows 7 and Elements 9..

Martha, may I jump in and offer a tip. I have the same problem on my laptop with some of the videos. What I found works is to actually download the VIDEO. I then go into the file and double click on it and it plays perfectly every single time. Plus, you see the entire screen and the right side is not chopped off.

You may have already tried this but so far, it has worked for me.

      Good luck,
      Wanda

I have trouble with the plug in for Quicktime also and the advise to download the video and then play it works great. Dave, you a funny guy! Love your tutorials here and on Photoshop user TV. Keep up the good work!

Thank you ! Thank you ! Thank you ! Ok, this tutorial is about 1 month too late for me but will be good for a next time. I ended up printing a poster size picture of my son with a background I don’t care for but loved his expression on that particular shot. I tried to remove the background for a long time and could never get rid of the blue cast on his skin…next time I’ll know what to do to correct the problem and have the background I wish for !
