Faking the “Looking at the Past” effect

By Dave Cross  ·  October 22nd, 2010

Taking a cue from the hip tutorial site Abduzeedo — specifically this inspired blog post on Looking at the Past — Dave Cross shows you how to create a very cool “I was here when” effect in Photoshop Elements.

The stock photo Web site where Dave got his images is Photoxpress.com; right now, you can sign up and get 10 free images per day. (Links to the images he used: street scene, hand with card)

    Hi Dave,

Thanks very much for a super cool effect. I used it on two pics I have in the Organizer. I would
have to recommend to anyone trying this cool effect is to make sure that the photo within the newly created frame is interesting.

When I first tried this, the end result showed a portion of the photo that folks would say “So What”.

Again Dave……thanks a million for sharing.
