Using Custom Shapes to Create a ‘Quick Page’

By Karen Brockney  ·  August 3rd, 2012

A ‘quick page’ is a backdrop with a frame and embellishments for one or more photos that you can add interchangeably. Karen shows you how to use custom shapes to create your own ‘quick page’ to really showcase your best photos.

    Hullo Karen
Congratulations on yout recent videos. Not being a quick learner I don’t use them much – too much confusing information! Yours are dead right and I am left with the feeling “well, I can do that”.
Your use of popups is excellent and well timed.
    Let’s have more!

I loved the video. I’ve already used this lesson many times. Where can I get the gear custom shapes?

I, on the otherhand, am frustrated. Tried to download custom shapes from shapes4free, and had no success. All I get is their desire to have me download stuff I don’t need. Any help?

Karen, please help me to download the custom shapes. I did so, they are in my downloads folder, can’t open them. I’m going to delete them and await a response as to how to do so. Sorry for not knowing what to do.

Robert, the custom shapes you downloaded from shapes4free are in a compressed ZIP file. You will need to “unzip” the file to open it. The custom shapes file that you install in PSE has an extension of .CSH.
A previous video explains about ZIP files. See the cheatsheet for Loading and Installing Brushes for written instructions.

Karen, what a great tutorial!! You are a terrific instructor. Do you teach a class in Photoshop? :-)

Thanks, Wanda. I enjoy making these videos – and no, I do not teach a class. I was a technical writer for many years, however.

Karen, I’ve watched the tutorial twice already and will probably do so again. I love those gears and want to download them. I’ve tried several times but am always directed to download things I don’t want and even though I have downloaded several of them, hoping to get past them and to the gears but it never happens. Do you have an suggestions for me? (I used the link above when I tried to download the gears.

    Thanks for the great tutorial!

Karen, I’ve been successful!!!! That download button is tiny compared to those that want you install extras. I will look forward to using these for my “gearhead” family members as well as for other designs.
