First of all…let me say I literally learned PSE5 with the help of these videos over the past three years, so when I am critical of them, I don’t want to come across as some picky ungrateful jerk!! But there seem to be subjects that instructors do not feel the need to define before beginning their lessons. “Sharpness” is definately one of these. I think I now know what is meant by “sharpness”, but I am not really sure. It would be great if the instuctions started off with the sentence, “by sharpness we mean…(definition of sharpness).” . Likewise with some explanations for bizarre terms, e.g. “unsharp mask” (an apparent contradiction for a device that is supposed to sharpen an image). As far as “amount” and “radius” are concerned, definitions would be a great help. If the meanings are obscure, or unimportant, it would be good to know that also. I hope these comments will be taken in the spirit in which they are given. I think attention to these details would greatly enhance their instructional value. Clarke Harris

I am having trouble opening some of the newer video’s. I have updated my QickTime, I have tried to open in another window, I have downloaded them to my computer…I get the sound but no picture.
Also I agree with Clarke in the last comment. I have trying times understanding terms that everyone takes for granted are known. I have been a customer for years, and I really like this service, just would like to be more comfortable with the jargon.

Take a look at your Preferences Panel for QuickTime. There may be some video card settings that are getting in the way of videos displaying. There should be some preferences listed regarding DirectDraw. Those being turned off may help.

Not sure I understand the difference between “unsharp mask” and adjust sharpness. from what I can see on the video both do exactly the same thing……
