In the default shapes there is already a shape called grid that is a grid divided in thirds. Is there any advantage to downloading another?

The shape in the downloads (above) adds a dimension that the default Photoshop Elements’ shape doesn’t have, making it easier to crop by thirds that have been created using the Golden Mean/Ratio.
The one that comes with Elements is great for dividing by thirds where the sections that make up the grid are equal in size.
It’s really a matter of taste. =)

I find then default shape grid without the Golden Mean easier to use.

This downloads as a CSH file, not as a zip file and can not be opened,

Philip,
It sounds like your browser is automatically unZipping the file. Just follow the instructions above to place the .CSH file in the right location for Photoshop Elements to use it.

The template is OK, but it would be tremendously handy to have this device with the ability to set in a shape ratio for the frame, e.g. 4×6, 8×10, 16:9, etc.

Is this something I can use in CS4? If so where would I store the file? Windows 7 32 bit

I have downloaded the Rule of thirds shape, but the golden mean is not there. What am I overlooking?

I have downloaded it and installed it.
I drag it across an image fine. It marks out the lines.
But if I touch the move tool as instructed, the grid just vanishes.
