Wow Rick, this is great. I tried one of Nicole’s presets this morning called Velvet color on one of my mill images, I really like the result. Please pass on a thank you to Nicole for her hard work.

Hi Steve. Quick question…I’ve downloaded the free Online file and Nicole Young’s presets. Just wondered if your screen flashes like mine does. When I put a photo into the editing box and try to apply an effect the photo really blinks on and off a number of times. I’m supposing this is what it does in this program while the effect is being applied, but it is rather annoying because it does it quite a lot.

I’m sort of comfortable with Elements 10 and don’t really know what to do with this free program once I get a photo inside…I’m a novice at masking, etc. so there is a learning curve for sure. I just really wondered about the flashing thing…is this normal? Thanks for any help you can give me. Linda

Thank you for the extra free Presets…but please tell me what I’ve done wrong in downloading them… (I have a MAC computer). In the “Preset” file I clicked “Import Presets”. Then it asked for a category. What should I put for that? When I put “Perfect Effects Free” it put it in a folder under “Presets”…but the effects don’t show up in “effects” when I open a photo…and I can’t seem to use them from the folder they’re in.
I’ve obviously done something wrong…so would appreciate any help you can give. Thank you.
(PS…double clicking “effects didn’t work either.)

I, too, tried and cannot download the presets. What do I need to do to accomplish this?

I have just downloaded the presets to my imac. In the download file there is a readme file which sets out the steps required to install the presets. There is no mention of “Import Presets”. Rather, following the instructions in the readme file I highlighted the eight preset files and used the “open” command in Finder (found in the File section of the Finder menu). I was prompted to designate a subcategory (I chose “instant_film”) and the presets were automatically installed in Perfect Effects 3. I can access the presets under the presets tab. At this point I have only the one subcategory “instant_film”. Hope this helps.

I am running a Mac with Photoshop Elements 10, here is what I did to load the presets. I downloaded the file from the link above, I unzipped that file, I pulled the readme file out of the file and opened to read it. I then SELECTED ALL presets, then select OPEN, this OPENED Perfect Effects automatically. Note, make sure you have Prefect Effects downloaded and installed first. Elements can not use these presets at all. These are setup for Perfect Effects software.

Once Perfect Effects opened, I was asked to name the preset file “add new category, I named it Nicole Young, I then select ok, the presets loaded into a file called Nicole Young. Located at the far right is a tab selection called Presets, Nicole’s file now sit there with all her presets.

You can then close down Perfect Effects, open Photoshop Elements, select an image, now select File, Automation Tools, you should see Perfect Effects, your image will auto load into Perfect Effects, once there look to the far right for Presets tab, for me because I named mine Nicole Young I see a folder called Nicole Young with all her wonderful presets.

    I hope this helps.

any idea why my image will not load into the main window of the Perfect Effects 3. I am in PSE 10 and I open an image by selecting File>Automation Tools> Perfect Effects. The image shows in all the effects windows but not the main window. Any help would be appreciated. I am using Windows 7.

Cindy, do you have your image loaded into Photoshop Elements 10 before heading over to Perfect Effects? What I do is Open Photoshop Elements 10, I then open my image inside Elements 10, I then select File>Automation Tools> Perfect Effects, this will load the image to the main screen.

That is exactly what I am doing but the main image won’t load but it will show in all the effects windows.

Are you loading a jpeg image? If not, can you tell the file type you are loading?

I have tried loading jpeg, low res jpeg, psd and nothing works. I uninstalled and then re-installed the Perfect Effects 3. I meet all the system requirements so I am stumped as to why this won’t work. I can take a photo into it and apply an effect but i just don’t get the photo to show in the main window so I can’t see any adjustments made if I adjust the slider and certainly can’t use the masks.

Install the free presets by using the import presets option, found under the Presets tab. I found that the free presets didn’t appear. But I closed the window down and then opened it again and could then find the installed presets. Look at the bottom of the screen and click on the presets tab there. Looks like the application installs the presets each time it loads so that’s why they don’t show immediately. Anyways that worked for me! :)

    Hope this helps.

Where can I find out how to instal the Perfect Effects 3? (after which I would like to instal Nicole’s instant film presets) I get this error . This is what it says: this program requires an open GL2-0 compatible video card to run. Error no. 1018. What do I do now? Anyone have any ideas?
