I have previously relied on tweaking shadows/highlights, but the “multiply” idea is great! I’m going to try it right now.

Great technique for for salvaging blown out highlights. I’ll have to try this with colors other than white.

Great tips! Have used them both already. Also found the info about using the eraser tool extremely hellpful … have used it now in other situations as well. The eraser makes the use of layers even more powerful. THANKS!
