This is the first tutorial I watched since I subscribed a few minutes back. Worth the price of admission already! Can’t wait to take advantage of ALL the great information here.

Very nicely done. This tutorial really shows how easy it is to create a great signature brush.
Thanks!

Please Help. Everything went great until I got to Edit > Define Brush From Selection. I have Elements 8 and when I went to Edit > I got Define Brush No “From Selection”. The Define Brush was also not hilighted. Please advise. Thanks Alex

Happened to me too. But I think it had something to do with missing the “select all” step for when I started over I was able to get the ‘define brush from selection’ to appear. However, see my comment below for a description of the problem that I encountered when trying to apply the signature to a photo.

I created my sig using – New Image – Type tool. It turned out way to small. What size would I use for the new image?

I used the second option to create a copyright watermark. However, when I select the signature brush that I created (Elements 8 in Mac) the copyright symbol and my name immediately appear (not the brush icon) and I can place it where ever I choose. However, to resize and possibly move the copyright, when I go to: image>transform>free transform the whole image is captured and not the water mark. What step am I missing??

First, make sure the layer with the signature is selected. Next, choose the Move tool. The signature should be selected since it’s the only thing on that layer. You can change the size by grabbing one of the corners, or you can rotate it by choosing Image -> Transform -> Free Transform, and grab the handle down at the bottom (middle).

When you scroll to the bottom of your brush list, right click on the brush you want to remove. You’ll have two choices: Rename Brush and Delete Brush.

I’m a new member and had a need for this subject as I’m trying to put a few images online. It works great although I had to watch the video a couple of times. I missed a few steps while trying from memory. Well done, and thank you!

I found this signature brush video a while back. I have tried several times to do this but every time
the define brush tool will not highlight itself. I would to know if anybody else has tried this and did it work. Is this a tool that works only on certain element programs, I have elements 9. If someone
could shed some light on this and put me in right direction to make this work I would appreciate
any help on this item.
Thank You Wayne Stabnaw

HELP… I followed all of the steps, all was good, But when I get my signature where I want it, I click once, It won’t stay, it follows my mouse, like it actually becomes my “arrow”, and will not stay in the photo? I click, double click,, nothing?
Did I miss a step? I tried all brushes, stars, leaf, they all do it. They will not stay on the photo?? Im using elements 9 , is there something Im missing, Can anyone help please.

For those who never figured out why the create brush is ghosted, it is because your image is too wide. You need to have it be 2500 pixels or less in width.

Tried this several times in Elements 9 and still can’t save the brush …followed it play by play but still no luck

Ok after posting I got to read John’s comments and after the setting under 2500 px it worked fine
