Burnin’ Up Your Flat Photos

By Sara Froehlich  ·  Issue: v3n7 (2006)

Sometimes a photo needs a little push to make the jump from good to great: a little more contrast, a little more definition, a little more ‘oomph!’ selectively intensifying shadows with Adobe Photoshop Elements can make the difference between a flat photo and an appealing one.

I found “Burnin’ up your Flat Photos” great. It just so happens that I worked at the Badlands National Park and your photo caught my eye before I knew what the tutorial was about. I was going to clean out my Badlands file that I had taken while working there, now I will be able to improve on what my eye saw. Loved the area any time of the year.
