This is a great tutorial. Very thoroughly explained for the newcomers. I just used my eraser to erase where I didn’t want the texture without using the brush tool. Thank you. Cathy

This tut helped me figure out how to add a grungy background to the dingbat image I had made in another of your tuts. I even followed your suggestion and used my own texture (photo of a distressed slap of concrete) for the background. I’m still having trouble with the mask-does black hide or reveal the layer above. Because in this tut, black in the mask definitely concealed the texture from the image below the mask. But I thought it was supposed to be the other way around. Oh well, I’ll get it eventually.

The black mask hides, and painting on it in white reveals. Usde a white make to reveal all, and paint on it in black to conceal.
