Great tutorial.
A question – does this work differently from using a levels adjustment layer and dragging the black, white & gray triangles, or is it rather another way of accessing that same functionality?

This is an interesting technique. I’m still fairly new to some of PSE’s features but obviously it’s possible to achieve similar results using a range of options within PSE.
Regarding this particular technique, is there any advantages using this as opposed to a layer mask and for example “multiply” followed by painting what you want or don’t want?
