Magic Selection Brush
Easily adjust specific areas of a photo
It has traditionally required much more effort to select the area of a photo you want to correct than to make the correction itself. The new Magic Selection Brush makes photo correction a snap, by taking the pain out of photo selection. Instead of slow, trial and error outlining and multiple tools, just click or brush over the area, and let the Magic Selection Brush analyze and select the rest of the area for you. Use the options to refine the selection if you want, then just choose your correction and apply—you’re done.

Left: Just draw a line through objects with the Magic Selection Brush. Center: The areas you want to correct are automatically selected—no painstaking outlining or tool switching required. Right: One click of the Auto Levels fix corrects the selected area.

Auto Red Eye Fix
Automatically fix red eye
It can’t get any simpler than this— the easiest fix yet for one of the most common problems in photography. Just click the Auto Red Eye Fix button to let Photoshop Elements 4.0 find and correct red eye in the photo. You can even apply Auto Red Eye fix to a group of photos at once, in the Photo Browser. For those photos that require extra attention, activate the enhanced Red Eye Removal tool in Quick Fix or Standard Edit, and click the affected eye or drag a marquee around it. You can even set advanced options for pupil size and darkening amount.

Skin Tone Adjustment
Get realistic skin tones
When it comes to photos of people, realistic skin tones are key. Photoshop Elements 4.0 makes getting accurate skin tones fast and easy, with advanced control available for even more precise correction.

More realistic skin tones are yours with the new skin tones adjustment.

Magic Extractor with Defringe
Easily isolate objects
Quickly separate an object from its background—even in complex, textured areas—and instantly sharpen its edges with the intelligent Magic Extractor!

Quick Fix
Make Quick Fixes
Perform a full range of common photo adjustments in the special Quick Fix mode, including color, contrast and lighting—even do them all at once with the one-click Smart Fix. The new Magic Selection Brush makes it easy to select specific areas for quick correction. Cure red eye with one click of the new Auto Red Eye fix. Check the new Tool Information panel for tips about the currently selected tool, and choose from additional Crop tool presets in common sizes. Easily focus on one photo at a time with the Photo Bin, then move on to the next in a series, without having to close and reopen the Quick Fix window. With large before and after previews, Quick Fix allows you to correct common photo problems and make fast enhancements more easily than ever before.

The Quick Fix window makes it a snap to fix the most common photo problems in one easy to use window.
