By Wendy Williams  ·  May 21st, 2006

We all have those photographs where the person looks fine but the background isn’t great; here’s a way to add a simple, textured background to a portrait.

I followed all steps (I thought) but can’t get the edit copy and edit paste to work for the picture and then the background. What step am I missing?

    Wendy:
I have followed all the steps but when I get to flatten layers and then edit>copy, the copy command is greyed out so that it will not work and therefore I cannot get the picture to transfer to the new background. I am using elements 7 with windows vista 64bit. If you would be good enough to e-mail the “fix” so that I can use your tutorial I would really appreciate it. My e-mail is doreintl@comcast.net.
    Thanks.
