By Wendy Williams  ·  March 19th, 2009

Fancy cut-out edges are great to use on your Scrapbook Pages and actually they are not too difficult to make.

The pages are too large for my PC. I have to scroll to the right to get all of the page & of course this cuts off the page to the left. I hope I’m making myself clear. I don’t know the right “lingo” to tell you. Thank youl.

I’m not into scrapbooking, but always looking for different ideas to add to photos. I appreciate your clear, well-written, and illustrated instructions. Thanks.

    Hi Lois ..

If you are having problems then do post the message on the forum … I don’t get automatic notification of queries posted in here. So I have only just found your query.

Is your problem the size of the Browser Window ??

I don’t understand steps 14 and 15. If I select the edge layer and delete it, the whole edge goes away.
“Click the visibility eyeball next to the flower layer (to turn it off) and click on the edge layer.
Choose Edit > Delete and then deselect. ” —> Edit>Delete doesn’t show up as an available option? I am using Photoshop Elements 8. Thank you!

      Agatha,

Once you have made all your flowers, and merged them into a single layer, you should have three layers: the background, the edge, and the flowers.

When you Control-click on the thumbnail for the flower layer, it will select all the flowers. (Clicking the visibility layer will let you ‘see’ the effect in the next step.)

Then, click on the edge layer – you should now see the Delete option, and, when you do it it will ‘cut out’ the flower selection.

It is a bit tricky, but once you get the hang of it, it should work for you.

      best,
      Rick

I’m having exactly the same problem as Agatha with Elements 8.
When I get to this step the Delete option does not show up under Edit….

“Choose Edit > Delete and then deselect. ” —> Edit>Delete doesn’t show up as an available option? I am using Photoshop Elements 8.

I’ve read your post Rick-but it’s still not working. Is there another way to do this?
    Thank you!

p.s Love love this website!! :)

I liked that alt-click on the last moved flower to duplicate it.

My edge dots were too short of reaching the bottom of the page, but stretching them out with the move tool didn’t look right, so I added a single dot at the bottom. I used the specified dimensions in the tut, and I don’t know why my column of dots was so far off. But it came out okay. Thank you for the instruction! I am stuck on number 10, when I use the cookie cutter tool and then click the check mark it is not showing up on my edge as cutout. Was I supposed to start a new layer for this? Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks!
