This was very helpful. I’m brand new to dingbats and am still learning Elements, so I got a chance to practice different “maneuvers”. I was even reasonably pleased with the outcome!

    Thanks.

Hmmm I have installed the font but can’t get it to work. It shows up in the menu but won’t allow me to use it. It just grabs another one instead of letting the dingbats show up. I am on a Vista PC. Any suggestions?
    Thanks, Patsy

I just realized you need to use the Uppercase letter. My works fine now.

Yes, there are images only in the uppercase.

If this doesn’t solve your probleml, Patsy, try typing an uppercase letter in any font, then double click on the T icon in the layers palette to select the text, then go to the font picker and doubl-click on that dingbat font and see if that will work…. hope so. :-)

Back again to say how much I love what I’m calling my grownup digital coloring book!

Anyway, when I read the previous posts that had some difficulty, I thought I’d pass on something that’s been a big help. Diana spoke of this in her article, but now I realize how important having a character map is. –Even before I download a dingbat font, I check to see if I can copy the character map, so I’m sure to use the right sign.

I downloaded the NexusFont program and like it for storing fonts I don’t want to install, but having a character map in my hand or in a Word file helps when I’m applying a character in Elements or Word.

    Thanks.

This tut allowed me to practice keyboard short-cuts while having fun at the same time. I had a problem following the directions above for installing the font. I also had problems adding the texture. I downloaded the two recommended tutorials and plan to try them next.
