Quick Nostalgia
Experimenting again, I stumbled upon a two-step method for achieving a soft, nostalgic look that I thought you might enjoy, too. I turned this flower:

Into this:

Here’s how:
- Step One: Select the Guided tab under the Edit tab. Then, scroll to the bottom of the list and choose: Lomo Camera Effect. Next, press the Cross Process Image button and when this effect is complete, return to the Full tab (via the Effects panel) and choose Screen for the blending mode.

- Step Two: Select Filter>Blur>Surface Blur and set the Radius and Threshold to 100.
And, that’s it: An instant (or, at least, super quick) nostalgic look for your photos!

Hi Geri!
I found this quick tutorial from Gary’s Photos (a blog) that shares how to do the Cross Processing step via Elements: http://gary8345photos.blogspot.com/2007/06/cross-processing.html
It looks pretty good and would replace step one. Then, you’d select the Screen blending mode and pick up with step two.
Thanks for your question and best wishes!

Well that was fun! And I learned that there are LOTS of other great things in the Guided area.
I’m using PSE7 with Guided> Photographic effects>Saturated Slide Film (awesome!)
Are you blurring the new layer produced in Guided?
Luminosity blending modes looks very cool, too.
Off to check out Gary’s Photos, I love the cross processing look.
We try so hard to learn to fix our photos – and equally hard to mess them up.
Cheers!
