Online Resources for Seasonal Cards

By Liz Ness  ·  December 7th, 2010

Last year, though I had the best of intentions, I didn’t get around to my holiday cards. I didn’t take any photos, I didn’t get my cards designed, no holiday order came to my door. I had a lot of holiday stamps, though, gracing all of my bills throughout the year. This year is going to be different.

I’m considering using the following photograph of my son in Bodie, California from our visit last month. Mostly, because there’s snow; a lucky capture for my cards since we see more rain than snow in these parts (the Pacific Northwest). In addition, I’ve been scoping out a variety of card vendors as I think about this photograph and holiday designs. There are so many amazing custom-designed and standard cards out there!

So, what are your favorite places — your “go to” spots — for holiday cards?

Here’s my list of potential sources:

  • Luscious Verde – Custom designs with with cut frames and embellishments, making them dimensional.
  • Hello Lucky – So fun! This company is a letterpress and design company that offers unique, vintage designs and holiday newsletters. They are located in San Fransisco and London.
  • Paper Culture -  Great designs and eco-friendly, these cards are printed on 100% recycled paper.  Plus, the company plants a tree for every order placed!
  • Muddy Paws Graphics – Clean designs with your photographs taking center stage.
  • Tiny Prints – Great designs and the company is passionate about customer service and quality (they have four stages to ensure your cards are great, including a proof-reading stage!).
  • Minted – Great designs with such a contemporary feel to them.  This company hosts design challenges to “uncover exceptional designs from all over the world…”
  • Shutterfly – A great go-to company for a variety of photography related products.
  • My Expressions – More clean designs from an all-occasions store.
  • Sweet Pea Baby (on Etsy) – Custom designs just for you, using your photographs. However, the shop doesn’t print the designs, so you’ll need to leave time for printing, as well.
  • Lemon Grove Gifts (on Etsy) – Custom designs and unusual shapes, including a door-hanger shape!
