May’s “Letter from the Editor” now online

By Rick LePage  ·  June 1st, 2010

By now, most Photoshop Elements Techniques subscribers should have received our (now monthly) “From the Editor” email. The May 2010 edition, written by Kelly, has some great links to cool bug photos, Wordle.net tutorials and more.

If you didn’t get the email because you don’t want to receive emails from us, you can view the newsletter online. If you do want to get these emails, but didn’t receive it, check your spam filter, or go to your P.E.T. Profile page and make sure we have your correct email address on file. Every month, we get a few hundred “bounces” on the emails, usually because someone has changed their email address, but forgot to update it here.

I like having the photo used in the tutorials available to download on the PET website. But I wish that you could list in each tutorial where a subscriber could find the photo used, such as Fotolia, Stock-XChange, etc. when the photo is not available on the PET site..

Roberta, that’s a good idea. I’ll see what we can do about that.

    Hi Rick,

After viewing and reading the great tutorials on Displacement Maps it occurred to me that using the technique together with animal skins would produce some neat projects.

Although I do have an animal skin brush set in PSE 7 I’m not sure about how to put together realistic repros
of the various skins. Right now it’s hit and miss so I’m wondering if you guys could do a tut on this or if there are other sources where I might find the info.

Thanks as always for great materials.

    James,

I put a new displacement maps video on the list of things to do. I think that’s a great idea.

Some of the older techniques could definitely stand to be updated to use more recent versions of Elements.

I can’t get over all the teaching that is available. I am delighted I can watch the video until I get it correct. I was going to submit a picture to the gallery which I thought was pretty good using the film strip but realize what a beginner I am and not so brave anymore. You have a very creative team. Lucky me and all your subscribers . Lillian Herd
