Introducing Michelle Stelling of NAODS.com

By Elizabeth  ·  February 8th, 2013

michelle-profile02

All of us here at Photoshop Elements Techniques are pleased to welcome Michelle Stelling of the National Association of Digital Scrapbookers (NAODS.com) to our team of video authors and contributing writers. Her first video, an Introduction to Digital Scrapbooking, is live on our Video Tutorial page and will be the first of many on the subject!

Michelle, a wife and mother living in Colorado, took a few moments to answer some of my questions about how she got involved with photography and the digital scrapbooking world:

Liz: How did you get involved with photography and digital scrapbooking?

Michelle: I have always loved taking photos since high school, but my love for digital scrapbooking came 9 years ago when I had my son. I love capturing various states in his life and since he’s involved with a lot of sports, it’s fun to capture those moments.

Liz: How did that lead to you starting NAODS?

Michelle: I taught Photoshop, Illustrator and Graphic Design for several colleges in the Denver area for over 15 years and suddenly it dawned on me that I should start my own business teaching nothing by Photoshop Elements. I also had a love for scrapbooking, so I just meshed them together to create the National Association of Digital Scrapbookers. I officially launched NAODS in 2008 and no longer teach through colleges.

Liz: What’s the most exciting part of your impending work with P.E.T.?

Michelle: The most exciting part is when my students send me samples of their work! I also love it when I hear my students say that they have tried learning Photoshop Elements in the past and they didn’t ‘get it’ until they found my site. I’ve taught over 5,000 students worldwide; digital scrapbookers, amateur photographers and designers alike.

Liz: Tell us just a little more about yourself!

Michelle: I’m married with a 9 year old son, I have been living in Colorado for the past 20 years and I’m originally a Hoosier from Indiana. I love following ‘the Photoshop Guys,’ going to Photoshop World, taking pictures of course, going to see the Rockies baseball games and, when I get the chance, going on vacations to somewhere warm!

To take a look at Michelle’s website, wander over to¬†NAODS online. She also hosts fantastic FREE webinars all about digital scrapbooking on a weekly basis, which you can sign up for here.

Lastly, don’t forget to watch her first (and definitely not her last) video, An Introduction To Digital Scrapbooking!

I am so happy to see Michelle is a contributor to PET. Joining her website (Naods.com) has taught me so much. Her instruction is easy-to-follow pleasantly presented. I have learned tips/tricks since joining and can’t wait to learn more about digital scrapbooking. I have listened/watched to other videos, but she presents it in a way that is easy. If you have a question, you can email her, and she responds quickly. So PET definitely has another winner!!!

Been part of Hummies World since 2009 and have watched Linda Satgast because of her videos for years so I am anxious to listen to your techniques. Loved all the PET videos and been a member for years here as well. Being one of the few men it is easy to spot my work. Being retired my wife and family receive my efforts and might wish I had gone back to fishing. Looking forward to learning new things.

I use my Gran’s computer each Sunday and she put me onto this site. Gran uses her computer for photos but thinks I’d enjoy the Scrapbooking hobby. Because this is only a version 8, can I still learn from the tutorials that are for later editions? I don’t think Gran can afford a later or newer programme.

Photoshop Elements User has many older tutorials inside their membership area that use version 8. NAODS also has version 8 videos inside their membership towards the very bottom of the membership page. Let me know if you have any questions – info@naods.com
