Dave’s Silhouette Art Video (and Cheat Sheet!)
Dave Cross’ latest video showcases a quick-and-dirty technique for creating a silhouette from a photo. It’s a fun little video, and you can use the style for all sorts of things, from backgrounds to cards and more. One of the things that I really like about it is that it shows you that there are plenty of times when you don’t need to be perfect when making selections.
In conjunction with the video, we’re trying out a new feature we’re calling “the cheat sheet.” This is a short PDF that has a very basic outline of the things done in a tutorial. It by no means is as detailed as some of the Web or magazine tutorials, but we’re hoping that it gives enough info that you won’t have to keep stopping and rewinding the video to figure out what’s going on.
The link to the Silhouette Art Cheat Sheet is in the “Related Articles and Links” section; just click on the link to download the PDF.

You can print it out, and keep notes when you’re watching the video, or you can use it to help when you need a little refresh while you’re working on an image of your own.
We’re going to try to include these PDFs with most new videos as we add them to the site–or shortly thereafter–and we’ll try to add them to a few of the older videos as well. (For some of the more complex videos, we’ll probably create fully detailed Web tutorials.) Let us know what you think, and what you’d like to see more of in the future.
Have a great weekend!
Rick

GREAT IDEA. Many times I have to stop the video or watch it again, also for me it helps remembering the shortcut keys.

I think this is a great idea, because I agree when I try to use one of the techniques shown in a video I spend a lot of time reviewing the video with really takes a lot of time when your working on a project that uses that technique.
Thanks again for the great idea.

This is just a super cool PRESENT. I like this ‘cheat sheet’ idea. You have the basics and I can print it out, follow along with the video and be able to make my own notes! Now this is a keeper. Thanks !

I’ll vote ‘YEAH’ for this too. I’m glad to see that others are appreciative of having something written to make learning the material much easier.
