Basic Tags for Advent or Anytime
Though the December holidays have been in full suggestion since before November, we have resisted joining in so that we could focus on Thanksgiving. Now that Thanksgiving is over, we’re ready to usher in the season.
This year, the first thing on our list is updating the Advent Calendar; specifically, the tags behind each door. Rather than little gifts, our calendar is filled with little homemade tags that include daily ideas for enjoying the season as well as sayings and historic trivia about this time of year. We use tags as a way to help my son count down the days, learn more about the holidays, foster more family time, and as ornaments. But, our tags have been around awhile and are weathered and out-dated. We need some fresh ideas!
This means, I have a new Photoshop Elements project to share — one that you can modify for any kind of tag you wish to create — anytime.
Materials/Supplies
- 2-inch circle punch (or scissors to trim the tags)
- A hole punch
- Ribbon/string
- A couple sheets of 80-100 pound card-stock
- A color printer
- Photoshop Elements
Instructions
The following video provides instructions for how to make a basic tag for your Advent Calendar or another project:
When the tags are done, I’ll place each one behind a door in the Advent Calendar. Then, starting tomorrow, Duncan will launch us fully into the holiday season, opening a new door — and adventure — every day. I can hardly wait!
