A Ticket for You
Following on the heels of our Basic Tags tutorial from last month, we have another technique video for you for how to make weathered tickets. Besides being a fun embellishment to frame your photographs, the tags are useful design elements. In the example, below, I’ve used tickets to frame my photograph, to hold my title, and to create balance, repetition, and interest. In addition, the tickets serve to lead the eye through the photo and down to the text of my design, taking viewers on a journey through page elements in order of importance.
The following video tutorial shares how to create your own weathered tickets by:
- Drawing a ticket with the ticket shape provided by Photoshop Elements
- Creating a double border
- Aging the ticket by dodging and burning the edges
Once you have your tickets, you can save them as .PSD files so that you can modify and reuse them again later. In addition, save them as .PNG files to drop into your graphic design and scrapbook projects at anytime. They are wonderfully versatile!

Question Liz
Is the blog open to folks who did not purchase the Elements package? I have an Aiken Flickr group, many members are first timers to Photoshop Elements. I would like to post this Blog site if that’s ok. These videos you folks do are priceless. If you have to purchase the Elements package, that ok, I will promote members sign up, the payback is awesome.
Thanks
Liz

Hi Steve!
Photoshop Elements Techniques Magazine is an independent company (Photo One Media), and is not affiliated with Adobe Systems. And, the blog is open (though there is an occasional members-only post/link now and then).
Subscription to the magazine is such a great deal and you get so much with it (e.g., six feature-packed issues per year with weekly tutorials videos — that are AWESOME, and more. Here’s a link to more information about subscriptions: http://www.photoshopelementsuser.com/subscribe/
And, here’s a link to a free sample of the magazine: http://www.photoshopelementsuser.com/learningcenter/
Please feel free to link to us and thanks for being a regular reader!
All the best,
Liz
